On Tuesday, January 14, we hosted our first-ever Bucks for Baskets event at Melcher-Dallas. The event was held in the school’s brand-new gym, with an enthusiastic crowd of supporters cheering on the students as they competed to earn money for their school.
Before the event, Melcher-Dallas students participated in a schoolwide competition to determine who would take the court at halftime. Four finalists were selected and had the opportunity to earn money for their school.
In front of a passionate crowd, the students successfully earned a total of $1,350 for their school by making layups, free throws, and long-range shots.
Since 2004, Marion County Bank has hosted halftime events that have raised over $159,000 for area schools, and this inaugural Bucks for Baskets event is a fantastic addition to the tradition. Marion County Bank would like to extend a big thank you to all the students who participated and the community members who attended.
We look forward to bringing Bucks for Baskets back next year and continuing to support local schools in new and exciting ways!
More Chances to Win Big!
Mark your calendars—Bucks for Baskets is coming to Knoxville on January 28 and Pella on February 7. We can’t wait to see more students take their best shots to earn money for their school.
Thank you to all the students who participated, and we’ll see you on the court again soon!
